Every parent feels nostalgic about childrens books sometimes, and you will LOVE these Christian, classic and fun READS! You will be so ready for bed time.
I’m guilty of buying lot’s of childrens books and even before I had kids, so I happen to own all of these.
Maybe that adds some credibility?

Why do I call these Books Classic?
These books for kids have hand drawn illustrations, faith centered values and no dinasours.
Well, maybe not all of them, but they are from the 2000’s and let me tell you they are not the same as the books from 2024.
If you go to a bookstore today or quickly browse on Amazon, sometimes all you see is basic illustrations and unsinspired writing.
But of course this is my opinion, don’t let me tell you what to like.
Hey, I like the modern books too, but we reach for these more and that’s a fact.
Not Everything is Classic in this Book List
I have to say that I couldn’t find another classic worthy book on my bookself to share with you, so number five on this list is a modern gem.
It keeps in line with the Christian category for this kids book list.
Okay, let’s begin! (In no particular order)
#1.The Childrens Book that got me in Trouble Once
Okay, fun story first. Well, actually it’s not fun or funny and it made me realize how times have changed.
I’m originally from Mexico, and because of that my culture is slightly different and my “Christian culture “religion” is too. In Mexico most Christians are bit more conservative in dress and celebrations.
And obsviosly that it true in the USA too, every area is different, but when I started teaching at a Christian school I read this book for the kids.
I was not ready to get angry emails speaking about the gushing blood. No more details for privacy, the point is that I was so surprised and I’m either blaming it on the culture or the Christian culture?
But I assure you there is no guishing blood scene (at least not like video games).
The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg

This book was introduced to me by another fellow teacher and I fell in love with it because you can use it to evangelize.
Read it by the beautiful fire place on Christmas Eve, learn the story and give out candy canes and hey just read it to your kids.
This book will case some readers to want candy, you have been warned!

#2. If you’re a New Momma this One is for You
I feel like this book is everywhere, but I still want to share it because I never knew about it until I became a mom.
So, read this book before baby falls asleep and as he or she gets older too. They will grow up knowing just how precious they are because the message is clearly about the beauty of life.
The bears are so cute and it’s a good book for the grown up too! As a teacher, I say it makes for great discussions about life and how God made everyone and everything.
What else can I say, it’s just nice and the pictures make me feel like a kid myself.
God Gave Us You by Lisa Tawn Bergren

Someone please tell me this book is a classic? I’m new to motherhood and I recently purchased it___ (thrifted find)!
#3. This Book is for the Adults too, I have Memorized Most of it by Now!
We read this book on repeat. I’m sure this is a real classic because you just don’t see books like this anymore.
This book is a character building kind of book that centers around biblical manhood. If you think it’s never too early to teach a boy that he can be wise now and grow up to be an even wiser of a man, than this is for you.
This book is not just for little boys, the Bible verses used aren’t really centered around manhood, but it’s more the images.
You will see pictures all about a boy and his dog. If you have little kids they can all listen and learn. I’m sure the little ladys will benefit from seeing a boy of that stature.
God’s Wisdom for Little Boys by Jim and Elizabeth George

While you are on this book, I found the girl version. I don’t have a girly girl yet, but that might be next on my collection!
#4. It’s Not Christmas but Why Read this Classic Book ONLY in December?
The illustrations are just not like the books today. I’m 100% sure they were hand-drawn.
If you miss nostalgic kind of Christmas books and paintings, then this book is what you need.
I will mention that the angels in the book are represented as usual with wings and human features, but if that doesn’t bother you than I think it’s a cool childrens book.
The story centers around the birth of Christ, but with a different take. Find out what makes this book even more beautiful at the end (I won’t spoil it for you).
How God Decorates Heaven for Christmas by Ron Mehl & Melody Carlson

Isn’t Christmas the best time of the year, deep down I know you know it is… but for Christians it’s Christmas all YEAR!

#5. This Book is What I call a Summary of the Bible, and it’s Mind Blowing!
I have no idea where I found this book but I did used to follow the illustrator on Instagram (Rommel Ruiz), maybe that’s how I found it.
This book is not a classic based on age, or style but it made the list because it teaches biblical truth like all the others.
The illustrations are amazing and I can’t say more about the story line because it’s too good! Although, I guess I have to tell you it’s about creation and Jesus.
I hope that wasn’t a spoiler?
The Promise: The Amazing Story of our Long-Awaited Savior by Jason Helopoulos

I won’t say this is my favorite book from the list ( I love all of them), but I do have to say that it’s my favorite TRUTH EVER (He is the truth after all)!
Hallelujah to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
